A couple of years ago my husband and I took our very first resort vacation in Mexico to celebrate our birthdays.  We had so much fun and decided that we wanted to take our family for at least one luxurious vacation together before the kids got to be too old.  Just one week together where it was just us as a family, relaxing and having fun.  We started a savings account and kept it secret. This Christmas we surprised the kids with the news and a box of beach towels, sunscreen and photos of our resort.

Finally, for April break we ventured down to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for our vacation. It was everything we had hoped for and even more.  A week of doing nothing but being present with one another was so special. Of course the beautiful views, the pools and the swim up bars were awesome too but I can honestly say that having the time to relax and talk to my kids without the everyday obligations was so well worth it.  We did some snorkeling and swam with dolphins and enjoyed every meal together as a family.  A rare occurrence in our house.

I didn’t take a lot of pictures because we were at the pool most of the time but there were a couple of mornings where Atticus and Bea and I snuck down to the beach to watch the sunrise and I took a few pictures of them playing.  Then one evening we all went down to the beach before dinner and I took some of all the kids. We even got a few of  all six of us.  This trip already seems like a dream now that we are home and back into normal life but it was an unforgettable week together and hopefully our kids will remember it with great fondness.
