Of Boys and Bribes…. | Kate Preftakes | New Hampshire portrait photographer

Yesterday I had a mini-portrait session day at my studio (more of those pics to come!).  I prefer shooting outside but sometimes it’s fun to have a nice clean background and get those simple, beautiful shots of kids.  Let’s face it, if you live in New England you’re rarely shooting outside this time of year!

I blocked off some time and Doug brought the boys in for some pictures.  These sessions rarely go as planned but I love how their boy energy and personalities just came out in these pictures.  I haven’t spent much time going through and editing them yet but thought I would share a few of my initial favorites.  I’ve learned over the years that the perfect smiles become much less endearing and the silly faces and tantrums are the cherished pictures.  After all, isn’t that what we’re trying to preserve here?  A moment in time and the relationships within our family.  Doug and I both commented on how big Asa looks here.  When you see your child every day you know in your mind that they are growing but sometimes it takes a picture to make you realize just how dramatically they change.

I have said it before and will say it again.  I am not above bribery when it comes to pictures.  In fact, I think it can make for some great photos!  Here are some pictures of the boys with doughnuts.  They were SO excited as they NEVER get doughnuts but that’s what made it so fun!

Kate, these are fantastic!! I LOVE Finley’s face as he is eating the doughnut, such utter joy and a little bit of “Please don’t take my doughnut away” too! Asa is so big, I can’t believe how fast they are all growing! You and Doug make some very beautiful children! =)

    Hi Hannah!

It’s nice to hear from you and thanks for checking out my new blog! I haven’t forgotten about you and would still very much like to be a guest on your blog. I am leaving for a big photo convention in Las Vegas tomorrow and won’t be back until the 24th but after that I should have some time. Maybe I’ll even start thinking about it on my trip! Hope all is well with you!! Kate

Kate! These first 3 photos of the crumbling tower of boys is utterly hilarious! Your tiniest one is having entirely too much. And how precious is the photo of your middle guy holding his doughtnut in such a coveting way. Thank you so much for sharing! With such photogenic boys, do you have any room left on your walls at home for new photographs?
