Happy First Day

First days of school are a lot like birthdays.  They are an annual marker of time.

They are an undeniable reminder that your child has grown and continues to grow right before your very eyes.  No matter how hard you try to slow it down.  No matter how much you promise yourself that you will savor every moment and that their childhood will somehow stretch out a little longer. There is just no stopping it.

First days of school are tough and this one was no different.  After the complete chaos of getting ready in the morning (where the heck are those school supplies we bought??) and our annual first day pictures, we stood at the bus stop together.  There was so much excitement and I was glad that the boys were happy to be going back to school.  I managed to see them off without a tear but the second the bus pulled away it was waterworks time.  Even when you prepare yourself for these moments they still hit you like a ton of bricks.

First days of school are exciting and I can’t wait to see how they grow this year.  I look forward to meeting them at the bus stop at the end of the day and watching them walk down the steps with new artwork in their hands.  I can’t wait to get those kisses as they leave in the morning and then again when they come home in the afternoon.  I hope that I will have many more years of these before they become too self conscious to kiss their mom goodbye.

Happy First Day to you my boys!

9 Months | NH Children’s Photographer

Beatrix will be 9 months old this week!  I don’t know how that is possible but it is.

I was just getting accustomed to answering “six months” when people asked me how old she was and I think I’m still cramming her into 3-6 month clothes.  (Luckily she’s on the smaller side).  But no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to slow this train down and she keeps growing whether I like it or not.

She has definitely moved into the busy stage of crawling, examining everything, putting everything in her mouth and wanting her independence.  No more just snuggling on the couch, this girl has things to do!!  I love her belly laughs and how she finds peek a boo hilarious.  She adores brothers and they adore her.

So here is our little 9 month old!

This is the classic Bea stare.

Special thanks to my mom, sister and niece for helping me pull this photo shoot off!  There is a lot of baby wrangling to be done at this age when you do studio portraits!

August Anniversaries

August has been flying by!  We’ve had a couple of nice vacation weeks with the kids and now it’s already time to start preparing for school.  Yikes!

I wanted to send a happy first anniversary wish to each of my 2011 August couples.  As always, I’m amazed that a whole year has passed since these wonderful weddings.  Each couple and each wedding were so unique and special in their own ways.  I loved them all.

The first anniversary was Amelia and Kevin.  They were married at the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge and had a gorgeous reception at the Shattuck Golf Club in Jaffrey, NH.  Click here to see their original blog post.

The next fabulous couple of August 2011 was Alexis and Scott.  I adore these two.  Their wedding was at the picturesque Greystone Manor in Cape Neddick Maine.  Their day was as lovely as they are!  Click here to view more of their wedding.

Next up was the elegant wedding of Sylvia and Brad.  All the way from London, this couple was married at The Commons in Topsfield, MA.  Click here to view their wedding on my blog and here to view their wedding on Style Me Pretty!

And finally, we celebrate the wonderful wedding of Amy and David who were married in the Brick House Antique store property.  Click here to view their wedding!

Happy First Anniversary to all of you! Here’s to many more years of love and happiness!

XOXO~Kate
